Brrrrr Fam,

And Happy Fall from Soul Tribe Eats!

We are so excited to share our recent Yas’s and photos of our last harvest of the season!

Chardvest

Yummy rainbow chard, wrapped in a lavender and mint tie.

This year we:

  1. Found a beautiful space in West Hill, Albany NY.
  2. Cleared  a vacant lot of bricks, leaves, garbage and urbanite.
  3. Built 2 compost bins, 4 garden beds and 1 seating bench with recycled wood.
  4. Co-facilitated a food justice and community organizing seminar in partnership with the Albany Social  Justice Center and the City of Albany’s Summer Youth Employment Program.
  5. Planted and grew and sweet peepers, basil, rainbow chard, kale, collard greens, cabbage, pull beans, sun flowers, lavender and mint!
  6. Built a tiny and powerful team.
  7. Recruited over 30 volunteers!
  8. Started a newsletter to keep you up to date about community meals, harvests, workdays and other Soul Tribe News.

This of course, was all made possible because of You: our family, our neighbors, our friends, our community. Thank you for putting your own seeds, plants, tools, money, gas, wishes, knowledge and time into this project. A Super Special Shoutout to my partner Dan Lyles, the ying to my yang, in it for the long game. Love you. Thank you all for believing in us both and the power of people. Thank you for seeing food justice as a model for direct social change and community empowerment. Thank you for being LettuceLitDidaPoppin!
